Tom Barrett for State Senate Fundraiser

You’re invite you to an upcoming Tom Barrett for State Senate fundraiser with Army Captain and U.S. Senate Candidate John James on Saturday June 16th at the Grand Ledge County Club from 5:30-8:00pm.

Tom Barrett has been a member of the United States Army for over 18 years and he is a combat veteran who has been deployed to Iraq, Korea, Kuwait, and Guantanamo Bay. Tom Barrett still serves part time in the Army National Guard as a Blackhawk and Lakota Helicopter pilot. Tom Barrett is in his second term in the Michigan House of Representatives serving the citizens of Eaton county. He has been a champion for veterans and is running for the State Senate to continue this work.

Special guest John James is an Army captain and businessman who is running for the United States Senate to unseat Liberal Democrat Debbie Stabenow. John James is an Apache helicopter pilot who fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom 08/09 with Representative Tom Barrett.

We need your help to elect battle-tested conservatives like John James and Tom Barrett. Tom Barrett is facing off against Kelly Rossman-McKinney, a progressive democrat and a Lansing Insider who has been playing politics for longer than both Tom Barrett and John James have been alive. Please join us for a night of comradery and conservativism and we work to elect conservative champion Tom Barrett to the State Senate.

Senate Campaign Kickoff

When I first ran for office in 2014 I ran because I was sick and tired of seeing battle buddies of mine come home from overseas and struggle to find work back home. Michigan had the second-highest veteran unemployment rate in the entire nation. I’ve been in the army the last 17 years and I decided to do something about that problem. I ran for office and won by a hundred and forty eight votes out of 35,000 that year in 2016. I was re-elected in won by almost twelve points. I think that shows the people who take principled positions can get re-elected. I want to take those hard work values and work ethic and run for the state Senate. When I was first elected to office I was appointed chairman of the military and veteran affairs committee and passed many bills that helped veterans in Michigan and I want to continue to take that to the next level in the state Senate. This term I’m fortunate to chair the Agriculture Committee in the State House of Representatives where I worked closely with farmers throughout Michigan to craft the best policy we can for one of our largest industries in our state. I’m committed to finding more skilled trade labor to help our farmers to grow their businesses and grow that opportunity for the rest of the people in the city Michigan. I knocked on more than 20,000 doors when I first campaigned for office and last year alone I walked more than 700 miles door-to-door campaigning for re-election. I promise to take the same work ethic that I’ve had working for the people of Eaton County to now work on behalf of the people of Eaton, Clinton, Shiawassee and Ingham County as well. I look forward to earning your vote and I appreciate your support.

Dirty Tricks from the Lansing Swamp

Well, they tried, and failed.

My opponent, in a desperate attempt to question my integrity, tried to smear my military record by complaining about a flight mission I performed while on military duty at a Perry High School football game in October.

Unfortunately no good deed goes unpunished. My opponent, a career lobbyist who was turning a profit on backroom political deals while I was patrolling the sandy roads of Iraq, decided to attack me for simply doing my job. An investigation conducted by the Army, at taxpayer expense, completely exonerated me.

My opponent has been an insider in Lansing for longer than I have been alive. She has amassed a huge war chest by calling in 40 years of favors from all of her Lansing swamp friends. In fact, she has raised well over $100,000 in just a few months. We have to be ready for more dirty tricks, but with your support of $25, $50, $100 or more I can overcome these underhanded attacks.

I have spent my entire adult life in the Army, so I am battle tested and ready to defend our mid-Michigan values against this liberal assault. But I can’t do it alone. I’m asking for your help and I will make you this commitment in return-I will fight just as hard as your State Senator as I have done as State Representative. I walked 704 miles door to door in 2016 alone, and I’m ready to put it all on the line again in this campaign.

Can I count on your support? Your donation of $25, $50, $100, or more will allow me to fight back.

Ashley and I are so thankful in advance, and rest assured the Barrett Brigade won’t let you down.
